Mark's fundraiser for Harlington Hospice

Story

I am taking on an ultra-challenge of jogging/walking non-stop from London to Brighton (100km / 62 miles) within 24 hours. On 25th May 2024.

This is to raise money for the Harlington Hospice (Sobell House) in memory of my Brother-in-Law Henry Faulkner who passed away peacefully last Thursday 14th March.

Henry lived life to it's fullest, adventuring far and wide across the world. Despite the curve-ball cancer threw at him 7 years ago he continued to make new friends, take trips, read, learn and make the most of every opportunity.

The hospice is where Henry spent the last of his days. It was a wonderful place that the whole family felt at ease at the most difficult time. Partly due to it's homely feel but mainly because of the specialist staff that made us all feel a sense of relief that he was getting the best possible care around.

This place allowed us to have positive memories, they allowed 24/7 visits from Canada, USA and Japan; they set Henry up with everything he might need to be allowed out to go out to the pub for a football match and a family dinner out; and they made Henry as comfortable as possible while his closest friends and family sat round him holding his hand, listening to music and sharing stories.

It's pretty crazy that this place is mostly funded by the public and needs around £2.4 million a year to run.

Please donate if you can.
